         中央研究院主題研究計畫:正典的生成:台灣文學與世界文學的關係

       2002(91年)成果報告中、英文摘要

本計畫為期三年,九十一年度為計畫執行之第一年。計畫執行期間,總計畫下的八個子計畫均按預定進度進行研究工作。

黃英哲和垂水千惠合作的子計畫「日本近代文學對臺灣新文學的影響」,本年度探討日據時期臺灣糞現實主義論爭與日本糞現實主義論戰的辯證始末,研究成果為垂水千惠執筆的日文論文初稿〈傾聽冥府之聲的作家--呂赫若與糞現實主義論戰〉(附英文翻譯),於九十一年三月發表。

陳芳明的子計畫「馬克斯主義與三年代的臺灣文學」,本年度探討日據時期左翼文學的研究及其侷限性等議題,研究課題為〈日據時期臺灣左翼文學史的研究及其限制〉。

劉紀蕙的子計畫「精神分析論述對於臺灣現代主義文學的影響:從文化史與美學的角度重新檢視」,本年度探討日據時期臺灣文學中的現代性與主體性,研究成果為論文初稿〈現代性與男性想像:日據時期「本島我」的「心的改造」〉。

梅家玲的子計畫「少年臺灣:多重文學因緣中的少年論述與臺灣想像」,本年度探討七○年代臺灣鄉土小說家文本中的孩童論述,並於九十一年三月發表相關論文〈梁啟超「少年中國說」與晚清「少年論述」的形成〉。

張誦聖的子計畫「八年帶臺灣文學生態:從鄉土文學運動到解嚴」,本年度探討戰後政治變遷及市場機制如何影響臺灣文學的發展,研究成果為英文論文初稿〈當代臺灣的文學文化〉。

王德威的子計畫「後殖民、後遺民、後移民:臺灣文學研究的三民主義」,本年度探討戰後臺灣文學文化生產的動因、現代性問題、由現代主義論戰到後現代主義風潮等等,研究成果為英文論文初稿〈書寫臺灣〉。

李奭學的子計畫「從都柏林人到臺北人:論白先勇與西方意識流傳統」,本年度探討白先勇的《孽子》和《臺北人》的關係,以及《孽子》與唐人傳奇〈遊仙窟〉的比較研究。研究成果已撰成初稿〈人妖之間:從張鷟「遊仙窟」看白先勇的《孽子》〉,於九十二年三月發表。

彭小妍的子計畫「後設美學和後現代性:解嚴後臺灣小說研究」,本年度探討後設小說與後現代性的定義,以及這些概念運用在解嚴後臺灣小說中的意義,研究成果為論文初稿〈後設美學與後現代性:解嚴後臺灣小說的現實與虛構〉,並於九十一年三月發表相關英文論文〈殖民主義與身分認同危機:身為世界人的楊逵與劉吶鷗〉,於九十一年十二月發表相關論文〈朱天心的臺北:從地理空間到歷史意識〉。

各子計畫主持人並分別在學術研討會或期刊、論文集等發表相關研究成果。其中陳芳明、垂水千惠、黃英哲、王德威、彭小妍共同參與三月底在哥倫比亞大學主辦的「日據時代的臺灣:歷史、文化與記憶」國際研討會,並宣讀相關論文。

 

"Formation of Canon: the Relationship Between Taiwanese Literature and World Literature" Project Report of 2002

Abstract

      During 2002, the first year of this three-year project, all the eight individual projects were carried out as scheduled.

       Huang Ying-che's and Tarumi Chie's project on "The Influence of Modern Japanese Literature on Modern Taiwanese Literature during the Japanese Occupation" worked on the interaction between Taiwanese kuso realism debate and its Japanese counterpart in 1935. The paper "An Author Listening to Sounds of the Netherworld: Lu Heruo and the Kuso Realism Debate" written by Tarumi was read at a conference in March 2002.

     Chen Fang-ming's project on "Marxism in Taiwanese Literature, 1930-1937" worked on core issues of leftist literature during the Japanese occupation. The title of his research is "Taiwanese Leftist Literature During the Japanese Occupation: Research and Taboo".

     Liu Chi-hui's project on "Psychoanalysis Discourse in the Context of Taiwanese Modernism: A Reassessment from the Perspectives of Cultural History and Aesthetics" worked on the modernity and cultural subjectivity of Taiwanese literature during the Japanese occupation. She finished a paper titled "Modernity and Male Imagination: the 'Reform of the Heart' of the ''Taiwanese Subject' During the Japanese Occupation".

     Mei Chia-ling's project on "Taiwan's Youth: Disciourse of Youth and Imagination of Taiwan in Multiple Literary Encounters" studied the discourse of the child formulated in Taiwanese nativist fiction during the 1970s. She published a paper titled "The Formulation of Liang Qichao's 'Young China Theory' and Late-Qing 'Discourse of Youth'" in March 2002.

     Sung-sheng Yvonne Chang's project on "Literary Culture in Taiwan: from Late 1970s to late 1980s" worked on the influence of postwar politics and literary market on the development of Taiwanese literature. She finished the manuscript of a paper titled "Literary Culture in Contemporary Taiwan".

     David Der-wei Wang's project on "Post-Colonialism, Post-Loyalism, and Post-Diasporism: Three Discourses in Modern Taiwan Literary Studies" worked on postwar Taiwanese literary and cultural production and addressed issues such as hybrid modernity, postcolonial critique, oppositional cultural politics, postmodernism, and so on. He finished a paper titled "Writing Taiwan", which was read at a conference in March 2002.

     Li Sher-shiueh's project on "The Dubliners in Taipei: Pai Hsien-Yung and His Use of Stream of Conscioiusness" studied the connection between Pai Hsien-yung's Niezi (Crystal Boys) and Taipeiren (Tales of Taipei characters), and the relationship beteen Crystal Boys and the Tang romance "You xianku". He presented a paper titled "Monster or Human?: A Look at Pai Hsien-yung's Niezi in the light of  Zhang Zhuo's 'You xienku'" in March 2003.

     Peng Hsiao-yen's project on "Metafictional Practice and Postmodernism: Taiwan Fiction of the Post-martial Law Period" worked on the definition of metafiction and postmodernism, while studying the relevance of these theoretical concepts applied to post-martial law Taiwanese fiction. She finished a paper titled "Metafiction and Postmodernism: Reality and Fictionality in Post-martial law Taiwanese Fiction". She presented a paper titled "Colonialism and the Predicament of Identity: Yang Kui and Liu Na'ou as Men of the World" in March 2002, and published a paper titled "Zhu Tianxin's Taipei: from Geographical Space to Historical Consciousness" in December 2002.

     Each participant published his or her research results in conferences, journals, or collected volumes. In addition, Chen Fangming, Tarumi Chie, Huang Ying-zhe, David Der-wei Wang, and Peng Hsiao-yen presented papers in the conference on "Taiwan Under Japanese Colonial Rule: History, Culture, and Memory" at Columbia University in March 2002.
